David Yates is the owner of Moonrise Ecological Services. He has been involved in the environmental industry for over 25 years. His career started at the Biodiversity Research Institute where he specialized in mammalian studies and was Director of the Mammal Program. Over his 25 years in the field, he has managed various wildlife studies, including several Natural Resource Damage Assessments in collaboration with the US Fish and Wildlife Services. Recent projects include Principal Investigator/Lead Expert conducting Endangered Species Act (ESA) bat surveys for the Department of Defense (DOD) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). He has conducted numerous pre-assessment and compliance surveys for both governmental agencies, as well as private corporations that were initiating energy development projects.
Dave has authored numerous publications and has always taken the time to participate in public outreach efforts, including presentations for various environmental educational institutions. He has appeared in the Boston Globe, NPR-Maine Calling, and other media outlets with the goal of educating the public about his work and the importance of protecting wildlife.
